Compassionate Leadership

As a supervisor or manager, you may often find yourself conflicted and frustrated by being in the middle of those who want something done and those who are expected to do it. The skills of deeper self-connection and needs-based empathy are key to shifting from habitual to compassionate authority and can result in more ease and connection in work relationships.

Difficult Conversations

Compassionate Communication skills are the key to navigating conflict and difficult conversations. Whether saying "no," hearing "no," or trying to come to an agreement, you can learn and practice the sequential exercises to navigate and mediate conflict with compassion and care. You can learn to stay connected with yourself and the other person even when the conversation is challenging.

Compassionate  Productivity

Raising awareness of everyone's needs contributes to more connection, consideration, partnership, and effectiveness. A more compassionate environment is a more productive environment. With less conflict and discord, there is more time for work. Compassionate productivity goes straight to the bottom line.

Compassionate Teams

Successful teams are made of people who value partnership, mutuality, inclusion, support, and shared reality. A Compassionate Teams workshop can motivate team members to develop compassionate communication and connection, to understand the needs of the team and of each individual member. From this clarity comes effectiveness, purpose, and progress.

Effective Decisions

The needs-awareness skill set includes the ability to make decisions based on a needs assessment of both your priorities and your choices. Practicing this skill clarifies the needs on the table as well as the needs that are met and unmet with each option. From this perspective, the decisions become more evident, with all involved feeling heard and experiencing more trust and peace of mind.

Loving Work Again

You may be amazed at the power of self-connection to energize, inspire, and motivate your way back to movement, progress, creativity, discovery, and effectiveness. The embodiment of feelings and needs can refresh your perspective and renew your passions. The deeper the self-connection, the lighter your step as you walk into work.

When you invite me into your personal spaces with family and friends, you are inviting me to support you in strengthening authenticity, trust, acceptance, compassion, and care in your group. Together we can create a safe space where you can get to know each other more deeply, learning to listen with curiosity and understand with empathy. You will engage in fun exercises and games to celebrate your connections within the group and with the group as a whole.

I so enjoy workshops and mentoring sessions with Cathan.  No matter the topic, she gently guides me through my judgments and helps me understand the concepts of compassionate communication.  She doesn’t come across as a guru or a fixer.  She doesn’t push any agenda.
She listens - deeply. Then she helps me listen - to myself, to what I’m feeling and what I’m needing. Sometimes I find this discovery hard to face, but she is a compassionate and empathic companion on the journey to self-discovery, healing, and new opportunities for a brighter life.
